There are about 10 federal holidays celebrated in the United States every year. Holidays are usually observed on days that are significant to its history. Typically, the celebrations are derived from the originating traditions that come with each holiday. Of course, everyone loves a holiday! One of the most anticipated holidays of the year is Halloween. Celebrated on the 31st of October, Halloween is all about tricks, treats and a whole lot of spooky fun. For children, this day is exciting because they get to wear costumes and go trick-or-treating. For adults, Halloween is more about food, drinks and a lot of scary stuff, which can be really fun too.

Halloween is definitely the time when all the spooky stuff comes out. Houses all around the block get transformed into haunted houses, decorated with carved pumpkins, skeletons, makeshift coffins and countless of costumed ghouls. Because of the traditions associated with Halloween, this is also one of the most commercialized holidays. According to statistics, over $9 billion is spent in the United States to celebrate this holiday.

Aside from the tradition of decorations, this is also the day when all the spooky monsters come out. You will most likely see some of the most scary-looking monsters through the costumes trick-or-treaters. It is believed that during Hallows’ Eve, the creepy creatures come out to play. Our culture is definitely rich with scary stories and mysterious folklore. There are scary witches, flesh-eating zombies, blood-sucking vampires, haunted poltergeists, possessed dolls, evil clowns and a whole lot more.
